Cornbread with butter and garlic

On my last recipe [https://goo.gl/zrcjbQ] I showed you how to make Caldo Verde and along the way I mentioned that cornbread with butter and garlic is a great side dish for that soup.

You can use this as a side dish for other soups and to use as hors d'oeuvre with cheese. Some examples of great cheese to eat with this cornbread are Serra da Estrela, Gardunha, Brie, Roquefort and all the creamy varieties from cow and sheep milk. It's also great with cream cheese.

Since this is by its nature a vegetarian recipe you can adapt it to serve as a side dish in a vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

250g cornbread
2 or 3 garlic cloves
Salted butter

Preparation

1. Peel the garlic without crushing it. Cut the cloves in half lengthwise and remove the germ inside.

2. Cut your cornbread into slices that fit your toaster. Heat the slices of cornbread until they are very hot. Try not to toast the bread.

3. Once they're done rub the inside of the garlic cloves on the bread to transfer the aroma.

4. Put the desired amount of butter on the hot bread and let it soften a bit with the heat. Then spread with a knife.
